baby, it's cold outside

The first snow of the season came in the form of a blizzard on Friday night.

I was kind of excited.

"First we'll make snow angels for a two hours, then we'll go ice skating, then we'll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookiedough as fast as we can, and then we'll snuggle."

This picture, I think, sums up that excitement exactly.

Washington doesn't get as much snow as people may think, and this couple inches was the perfect amount. Even though the streets are ice sheets, which makes driving or a nice gallivant hard to accomplish, I still love when the snow decides to show up for a couple days.

Sunrise on the first day of snow
"Look, It'll be just like Julie Christie in Doctor Zhivago!" Yes, I said that.

Cold outside means that I have also been doing an awful lot of hunkering down inside this weekend:

1. Madly knitting several gifts. I have come to the conclusion that I am not as fast a knitter as previously believed. This snowy weekend has allowed me to catch up. (Also while knitting, watching important things like The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and CONAN!)

2. FRESH hot chocolate. I loosely followed this recipe (sans booze + cinnamon). You could also just wing this, which is my favorite way to do everything anyway.

3.  Enjoying that latest SNL. Specifically this incredible sketch. New cast member Vanessa Bayer has a dead on voice impression of Miley Cyrus. Also, Anne Hathaway as Katie Holmes? Who would have even thought that could be funny...well it is.

PLUS Florence + The Machine as the musical guest. That girl's got lungs.

  2. haha yes you could call me a knitter. I've been trying to get better for several years and then give up. Slowly improving, so I make a lot of simple things!

I made that cowl I am wearing in the above pic!
