Roaring 20's indeed!
One of the great American novel's, and a very memorable, yet, required read in high school, has finally been given the treatment it deserves, created by the magnetic eye of Baz Luhrmann.
The Great Gatsby shows off the epitome of American wealth, with swanky parties, glamorous digs, and extravagant clothing. Luhrmann has definitely not shied away from all the opulence and it appears he has made it more glorious than could have been imagined by any fifteen-year-old scanning the pages of the book.
With a cast lead by Leo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan, and the already fantastic source material, this was one of the most anticipated films of 2012. Even though it is slightly worrisome about the addition of 3D, Luhrmann does lean toward the bigger is better angle, and always makes gorgeous looking films.
No disappointments can be found today, this trailer only made my excitement boil over.
In the meantime lets all circle around and have a much needed re-watch of 90's Leo and Baz's first production together (coincidentially another required read from those school days); Romeo + Juliet.
Look for The Great Gatsby when it is released Christmas Day 2012.
Still so far away...
